Soundtrack concerts

When the pictures started moving, sound and image were certainly not yet a team.
During the early period of motion pictures, soundtrack concerts evolved, with a piano player, several musicians or even a complete symphonic orchestra responsible for the audio framework of the movie. Soundtrack concerts today again enjoy a tremendous popularity, be it for the typical Charlie Chaplin movies or for major works, such as Metropolis or Ben Hur. But also movies, such as Nosferatu by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, are currently experiencing a renaissance. One current trend are modern movies combined with a classical orchestra, such as for example “Lord of the Rings” or “Lion King”.
